Short story
2004-05-17 - 3:27 a.m.
So I knew a girl who bumbled along aimlessly at life, but had a straight direct road through her education. Social lives were mysteries, though finding capital friends wasn't too hard. From K through 12 she marched right along and entered college without skipping a step. She met guys without brains, guys who would use her, and observed all the other characteristics guys had through her friends' relationships. She concluded that boyfriends were just a waste of time and emotions, but friends were the real deal. So when a great guy did come along, she pushed him away initially. However, with time, they hung out more and more as friends, and one day he gave her a card for her college graduation with an inscription that made her eyes water. She realized how much he meant to her, and the next day everytime someone walked around the corner she looked to see if it was him. When he did come around the corner all she wanted to do was hold his hand, which was something she never wanted before. And being the social retard she was, the bumbly girl opened up that night to him even though she turned him away before. He happily took her in his arms.
And that's how Melanie Dawn got her first proper boyfriend at the ripe young age of twenty-two.
